OpenPageRank

OpenPageRank is a free 0 to 10 domain score built by DomCop from the Common Crawl link graph. It follows Google's original PageRank paper rather than any current ranking system, and it is free to query with a key.

Two things follow from where the data comes from. It is only as fresh as the Common Crawl release behind it, so a new domain scores 0 for months after it starts collecting links. And it is a link-graph measurement, so it says nothing about content, traffic or trust.

What Domduck records

The openpagerank adapter is built and it is not collecting today. It needs an API key that is not set, so it has never returned a reading. The status page shows it as "not running" rather than hiding the row, which is the point of that page.

When it runs it stores one numeric reading a day per tracked domain, with a date. Higher is better, and the scale is 0 to 10 rather than 0 to 100, so it is not comparable with Domain Rating at any point.

This is also the source that binds the free tier's ceiling before the database does. The published quota allows about 1,000 domains on a daily refresh, roughly 30,000 requests a month. That number is on /about rather than kept quiet, because the point at which a free product stops being free is the claim nobody fakes.

Why it matters

OpenPageRank is the best free second opinion available on domain strength. It disagrees with Domain Rating often, and the disagreement is informative: a domain rated well by one and poorly by the other usually has an unusual link shape, such as many links from one source.

Do not report it as a percentage and do not treat 5 as "half". The scale is logarithmic like every other link score, so most of the web sits between 0 and 4.
